LA-based fashion brand B.YELLOWTAIL announces the launch of a capsule collection release with the children’s division of home furnishings/design retailer Crate & Barrel.

Since it’s inception, B.YELLOWTAIL has set out to change the way contemporary Native art and design is portrayed in the fashion industry, and this capsule release with a major retailer marks a huge achievement in that direction.  “We are finally getting the opportunity to direct the design narrative of our own stories, and being able to bring that to the mainstream retail world is beyond exciting” says CEO Bethany Yellowtail.

This collaboration highlights the Native traditions of celebrating new babies and children with items of cultural and spiritual importance. Nina Sanders, an Apsaalooke (Crow) artist from the B.YELLOWTAIL Collective, relays “Many tribes like the Crow, Cheyenne, Lakota, and Kiowa begin the celebration of a baby’s life even before birth by preparing handmade gifts for the arrival.”

Items in the capsule collection include: wall art prints, baby apparel, baby blankets, crib/sheet set, area rugs, and traditional stuffed toys.  “To be at the forefront of this pivotal shift is what we have always aspired to do; to share the beauty & vibrancy of Native art for all people to enjoy.”

"We’re at an incredible moment in time where a new generation of children, from all walks of life, can now play with, cherish, and respect authentic representation of indigenous creativity and culture.”

All of the original design pieces were hand-crafted by B.YELLOWTAIL’S Collective of immensely talented artisans including: Billy Werk (Gros-Ventre), Susan Stewart (Apsaalooke-Crow), Robin Shield (Apsaalooke-Crow), Elias Not Afraid (Apsaalooke-Crow), Aly Mcknight (Shoshone-Bannock), and Wakeah Jhane (Comanche/Blackfeet/Kiowa).
