     KWAKWAKA' WAKW NATION

I am from the Kwakwaka’ wakw Nation in BC Canada. I grew up in a very talented family of artists which means I have always been surrounded by art. From a young age I was drawn to beading, weaving, and sewing. In school I also studied Native Art, and was fortunate to have guidance from my uncle and aunt, as well as my teacher.

My main passion is moccasin making. I absolutely love the smell of the hides, the process of cutting, punching holes, sewing, beading and assembling moccasins.

This passion has allowed me to stay home with my children. My two youngest boys are home learners, and my oldest returned to school 3 years ago. I am forever grateful for the time I have to watch them grow and learn. Our family bonds are strong. I have also watched my boys become inspired, knowing that there are other "work" options available to them. They have made and sold their handmade items for 2 years at a local Christmas Craft Fair.

My family supports and inspires me everyday, and I would not be where I am today without them.
