JAIDA GREY EAGLE
Jaida Grey Eagle is an Oglala Lakota artist, born in Pine Ridge, South Dakota and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was born into a storytelling family. Jaida is a photographer and artist by default. Her work focuses on mixing traditional indigenous art with contemporary mediums. She is passionate about environmental justice, decolonization, food sovereignty, bringing awareness to indigenous issues, and utilizing art as a form of activism. She received formal training in photography at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico and will graduate with her BFA in Spring 2018.
