BROCADE STOPS BLACK EAGLE
“Well Known Writing”
Apsaalooke (Crow), Mandan, Hidatsa
I was born and raised on the Crow Indian Reservation where my husband and I raise our three beautiful boys. I am also a Mandan/Hidatsa on my mothers side. With my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, I have been working as a clinical nurse at Indian Health Services since 2006. I enjoy trail-running with my husband and have completed a few Ultra-Marathons.
When I was a young girl, I was first introduced to traditional art by my grandmother and started creating my own pieces with my mother in middle school. I am inspired by mother who had a keen eye for design structure and color scheme. I create designs and colors inspired by traditional Old Crow designs.
I hope that 100 years from now, the pieces I’ve made for my children will be passed down to their children.
